Council Committee meetings on July 22 on data center moratorium bills and the zoning text amendments

On July 22 at 9:30am, the Economic Development Committee met to discuss and vote on the two data center moratorium bills, Bill 19-26 and Bill 24-26. Please read the staff report here for the Expedited Bill 19-26 (6-month moratorium) and the addendum, and the staff report here for the Expedited Bill 24-26 (2 year moratorium). Committee approved the 18-month data center moratorium, however did not approve establishing the task force.

On July 22 at 1:30pm, the Planning, Housing & Parks (PHP) met to discuss and vote on the Zoning Text Amendment (ZTA) 26-01, Commercial Uses - Data Center. Please read the staff report here. You can watch the recordings on Council website.

Both an 18 Month Moratorium and a ZTA prohibiting all data centers over 25 MW passed in committees, so they can have the final vote at the Council session on July 28th.
