The Climate Coalition Montgomery County and its members Sugarloaf Citizens Association, Zero Waste Montgomery County and The Climate Mobilization, Montgomery County Chapter held a webinar on October 29th to discuss the County’s plans for the solid waste management. Lauren Greenberger from Sugarloaf Citizens Association gave an overview of the two alternatives that the County will vote on November 10th:
Option 1: Supports keeping our incinerator open for the long-term as the County's primary method of solid waste disposal.
Option 2: Supports closing the incinerator and transitioning to the disposal of the County's solid waste at out-of-county landfills and expanding composting.
