About CCMC

Our Mission

  • Restore a safe climate

  • Create a sustainable economy

  • Build racial justice and social equity

  • Build Community Resilience (Community Health, Green & Gray Infrastructure, Ecological Systems)

  • Advance the removal of CO2 from the atmosphere

  • Participate in the global Climate Mobilization

The Coalition was founded in 2020 to provide a means for the diverse climate and environmental groups in the County to work together and provide a united front on key issues facing the County. Initially known as the Montgomery County Climate Action Plan Coalition, the first efforts focused on the implementation of the Montgomery County Climate Action Plan (CAP).  However, as  there were many critical issues not included in the CAP, the Coalition expanded its efforts to include a broader range of  climate concerns.  In 2023 we became the Climate Coalition Montgomery County to reflect this expanding action base.
