Our Mission
Climate Coalition Montgomery County's mission is to empower local environmental organizations and advocacy groups in Montgomery County to lead transformative action on climate change, to advance a sustainable and just economy, and to build collective resilience in the face of environmental, social, and economic disruption.
The Coalition was founded in 2020 to provide a means for the diverse climate and environmental groups in the County to work together and provide a united front on key issues facing the County. Initially known as the Montgomery County Climate Action Plan Coalition, the first efforts focused on the implementation of the Montgomery County Climate Action Plan (CAP). However, as there were many critical issues not included in the CAP, the Coalition expanded its efforts to include a broader range of climate concerns. In 2023 we became the Climate Coalition Montgomery County to reflect this expanding action base.
